“Homegrown Greatness” isn’t just the name of an event, it’s a reminder of who we are, where we come from, and what’s possible when hard work meets heart.

This event was born out of a simple but powerful belief: our kids deserve to see living proof that greatness can come from right here at home. Too often, Hawai‘i athletes grow up feeling like they need to leave to be seen, like their dreams are too far away, too big for this island. But the truth is, greatness is already being cultivated here every single day, it just needs a platform.

When Wehiwa Aloy won the Golden Spikes Award, the most prestigious honor in college baseball, and became a first-round MLB draft pick, it wasn’t just a personal victory. It was a Maui victory. A Hawai‘i victory. It was proof that kids from our small towns, small schools, and humble beginnings can stand shoulder to shoulder with the best in the world.

That’s why we wanted to celebrate him, not just as an athlete, but as an example of what it means to represent our island, our culture, and our people with pride and humility. But beyond that, Homegrown Greatness is about more than one person, it’s about inspiring the next generation to believe that they can write their own stories too.

It’s about the little kid who picks up a bat for the first time. The parent who sacrifices every weekend for their child’s dream. The coach who volunteers his time to make sure no one gets left behind. It’s about us, all of us, pouring into our youth so they can pour back into this place we call home.

We created this event to remind everyone that greatness isn’t imported, it’s grown right here in our soil.
And that when one of us wins, we all win.

All proceeds from this event go toward supporting The Underdog Foundation’s programs, helping us continue to create opportunities for Hawai‘i’s youth to learn, grow, and thrive both on and off the field. This is about celebrating one of our own, but also investing in the next.
