Story
Did you know that social isolation and loneliness affect more than one-third of adults, especially seniors who are at risk for depression, substance abuse, and suicide? It's true - loneliness is a big predictor of poor health. In fact, studies show that of adults aged 45 and older, only 25% of those who rate their health as "excellent" were likely to be lonely, compared to 55% who rated their health as "poor."
But the YMCA of Collier County is determined to make social isolation a thing of the past. We've already served over 3000 seniors with free luncheons and chronic disease support, and we're committed to making sure seniors have access to programs and services tailored to their needs.
Right now, we offer a wide range of programs for seniors, including
Parkinson's Programs, Rock Steady Boxing, Caregiver Support Groups, AIM
fitness classes, Senior Blue Book Seminars, Senior Self Defense, and
Smart Fit & Biodensity. We'll continue to provide vital programs and
services for the physical and mental health wellbeing of seniors, and
we need your help to make it happen.
