Leleka Foundation, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, was founded in December 2014 when several Ukrainians living in the United States joined their efforts with several volunteer initiatives in Ukraine to procure and distribute medical and first-aid supplies to paramedics, emergency crews, and hospitals in the wake of the 2014 Russian aggression in the Eastern Ukraine and Crimea.
