A Dedicated Fund for Those in Need

In response to the California wildfires, we have dedicated a portion of our Patient Grant Fund to specifically assist cancer patients in wildfire-affected areas. These grants provide critical support to individuals navigating both cancer and the compounded challenges caused by environmental toxins and displacement.

Funds raised through this initiative will be placed in a designated fund to assist cancer patients working with Terrain Network Practitioners and Advocates who have been impacted by the California wildfires. (Note: The funds will be designated for a period of one year. If the funds are not utilized within this timeline, they will be redirected to the General Cancer Patient Support Fund to help other cancer patients in need.)

The Terrain Perspective on Fire and Health

Wildfires do more than destroy homes and landscapes—they impact our health at the deepest levels. The toxicity of wildfire smoke infiltrates the air we breathe, the water we drink, and even the food we consume. Laden with heavy metals, carcinogens, and fine particulate matter, this smoke creates a cascade of health challenges, particularly for those with compromised immune systems or chronic conditions.

Smoke exposure disrupts the delicate balance of our internal ecosystems, increasing inflammation, oxidative stress, and impairing immune function. For patients already in a cancering process, these environmental toxins are especially catastrophic, adding another layer of complexity to their care.
