Chicago Bike PAC is a grassroots political action committee on a mission to elect a bike-friendly Chicago City Council. Together with our friends at Better Streets Chicago (Action Fund), Chicago Family Biking, and Bike Grid Now, we're inviting the entire cycling community out for a party with a purpose—our Campaign Trail Party!

Goal 1: Finish our "Century Ride"—Together, Can We Complete $100,000?

Our community goal has been to raise $100,000 to show our elected officials that we mean what we say: our city must be a safe place to bike for school, work, fitness, and daily life. We can't tolerate designs that prioritize semi-trucks over vulnerable road users like cyclists or moms with strollers.

Goal 2: Support Our Bike-Friendly Alders

Most folks aren't yet thinking about the February 2027 election for City Council—but we are! Whether a political junkie or brand new, show up at our party to learn who our bike-friendly alders are, how election season works, and actions you can take to support candidates who want to build a safer, world-class city.

September is the Fall and school restarts, but Chicagoans also know it's one of the best outdoor months of the year. Join us at Midwest Coast Brewing Co. with a retractable-roof patio, extra bike parking, beverages, and party food to enjoy the evening.

How much has Chicago Bike PAC raised—and how much do we have left?

We've been working hard behind the scenes, and the community has come through. With 567 individual grassroots donations from cyclists, plus commitments from business or major donors, we've raised nearly 2/3rds of our final goal of $100,000 for the February 2027 election cycle. We're pumped! We also know we have a road ahead to finish the goal, and we're committed. We'll announce our specific goal for our Campaign Trail event shortly.

Where do the funds go?

As a political action committee, we are spending funds directly to support elected officials and candidates for city council who will use their voice and vote to support the values of the #bikechi community. While the February 2027 election season is still approaching, we've already distributed over $10,000 in early funds to races where it appears there will be opposition to bike lanes and safe streets, and we're working every week to get a clear picture of how to use the funds efficiently and effectively.

How many candidates will you support?

Our impact depends on the total funds raised. The more the community can raise, the more impact we can have. Rather than spread the funds thinly, our scenario planning indicates contributing in 5-8 races. We are working with our leadership and advisory board to make decisions as the election landscape becomes more clear.

Because of the scale of the Mayoral race, we will seek to raise our issues alongside our advocacy partners, but at this time aren't planning a contribution in the race.
