It Promises to be a Beautiful Weekend!

Greetings, Cancer Chronicles Writing Retreat Registrants,

I am your writing instructor for the CUCF Cancer Chronicles Writing Retreat, which will take place at the San Antonio Botanical Center (SABOT) on January 9th & 10th 2027. I look forward to meeting you, hearing your stories, and using my expertise to inspire and prompt your writing.

Our retreat weekend will be a time for sharing, reflection, writing, and community. All you need to do is show up, and the rest will fall into place! That said, here are a few guideposts:

CANCER CHRONICLES WRITING RETREAT:

*San Antonio Botanical Center’s Auld House

Saturday and Sunday, January 9th & 10th, 10:30 a.m. - 2:30 p.m.

*Arrive in the morning via the welcome desk. You will be directed to our private meeting space. Directions, parking, ADA, and the campus map: https://www.sabot.org/

*Our days will be a mix of group work and writing instruction in the classroom, plus time for your private writing with full access to the lovely SABOT gardens

We will provide Central Market sack lunch on Saturday and Sunday. Please email me if you have any dietary restrictions

Notebooks and writing utensils will be provided. You are welcome to bring your preferred writing materials or laptop

*A huge part of the Cancer Chronicles experience is the Writers Showcase one week after our writing retreat.

Artistic Director Carla Sankey will bring the CUCF musicians to perform a special musical treat for you. It will be a special day for you and a unique opportunity for your “tribe” to hear you read your story. Ask them now to SAVE THE DATE!

CANCER CHRONICLES WRITERS SHOWCASE:

* Sunday, January 17th 2:00 – 3:30 p.m.

*San Antonio Botanical Garden, Discovery Classroom A

*Reception with light snacks. Doors will open at 2:00 PM
