Capoeira Life applies the cultural art of Capoeira Angola to build community, expand access to education, and create opportunities for youth, families, and people of all backgrounds to learn and grow together.

Capoeira is an African-Brazilian art form that brings together movement, music, history, language, and community. Its traditions were created by captive Africans as expressions of resistance, resilience, and cultural survival during times of slavery in colonial Brazil. Today, Capoeira continues to connect generations and communities through shared practice and cultural exchange.

Based in Southeast Seattle, Capoeira Life provides free and accessible Capoeira programs for youth, families, and community members. Our programs include ongoing classes, workshops, rodas, performances, cultural education, and opportunities to learn from experienced Capoeira artists and tradition bearers.

Your donation helps make this work possible. Contributions support teaching artists, free youth and family programs, community events, instruments and educational materials, artist residencies, and the ongoing costs of making Capoeira accessible to our community.

Whether you give once or become a recurring supporter, your contribution helps Capoeira Life continue sharing this living tradition and creating spaces where people can move, learn, connect, and belong.
