Caregivers Deserve a Day to Play, Too

Caregiving is often described as an act of love, but what doesn’t get talked about enough is the cost. The long days. The constant vigilance. The emotional weight of watching someone you love change in ways you can’t control. For many dementia caregivers, especially those in our community, rest and joy become luxuries instead of necessities.

This isn’t just a game day. It’s a pause. A deep breath. A reminder that caregivers are people first.

On this day, caregivers can sit at a table, laugh over bingo or trivia, and connect with others who understand without having to explain. They can enjoy fellowship, light refreshments, and moments of fun while knowing their loved one is safe, engaged, and cared for through free, on-site respite provided by trained professionals.

For some caregivers, this will be the first time they’ve attended an event like this. The first time they’ve stayed instead of dropping off. The first time they’ve allowed themselves to relax without guilt.
