Brouhaha is raising funds to support the production of our latest project, a new play premiering in January at the Club at La Mama. Brouhaha (a Brooklyn-based experimental theatre collective composed of Nick Auer, Max Pendergast, Sam Myers, and Dan Kuan Peeples) has been making theatre in strange and exciting spaces for over a decade, and we're proud to be working toward our most ambitious show yet.

This is true: a fire has been raging underground for over six decades beneath the coal-mining town of Centralia, Pennsylvania. Our play is set in a fever dream vision of Centralia – a mostly abandoned town, a haunted place. There’s a strange wind blowing, there are voices in the walls, there’s a sinkhole out by the old highway, the carbon monoxide alarms never stop blaring.

The world premiere production will feature Obie Award winner Jan Leslie Harding (Deep Blue Sound), Obie Award winner Jess Barbagallo (The Trees), and Tom Mezger (The Voices in Your Head). Our design team includes Costume Designer Kindall Almond (Degenerates) and Sound Designer Max Silverman (The Vicky Archives), with further team members to be announced soon!
