On September 4, 2024, our community experienced a tragedy that forever changed us.

As we approach the second anniversary of the Apalachee High School shooting, we choose to gather not only in remembrance of what was lost, but in celebration of the strength, compassion, and resilience that continues to define our community.

Barrow Strong: Chalk the Walk is more than an art event.

It is an opportunity for neighbors, families, businesses, churches, civic organizations, and community members to come together and transform ordinary sidewalks into a powerful display of hope. Every piece of chalk art becomes a reminder that love is louder than fear, that healing happens in community, and that even in the hardest seasons, hope can still be found.

Throughout the evening, guests will enjoy community chalk art, food trucks, bounce houses, family activities, and a food drive benefiting local families. Visitors will also have the opportunity to vote for their favorite chalk designs while walking through an outdoor gallery created by our own community.

Whether you're creating artwork, attending with your family, volunteering, or simply walking through the displays, your presence matters.

This event isn't about forgetting.

It's about remembering together.

It's about honoring the lives forever impacted by September 4, 2024.

It's about showing the next generation what it looks like when a community chooses compassion over division, hope over despair, and love over fear.

Registration fees directly support BRANCH, helping provide ongoing mental health support, trauma-informed resources, and community programming throughout Barrow County.
