Two years ago, on September 11th I decided to walk 22 miles to bring awareness to veteran suicide. On average, the country loses 22 veterans each day to suicide. The past two walks have raised over $19,000 and this year I'm hoping to hit $15,000.

This year's funds will support Shields and Stripes.

"Shields and Stripes is a no-fail mission. We will return our heroes better prepared to navigate life and family challenges, to return them to feeling like themselves again.

Our Shield represents the source of our protection, not only for ourselves, but for the brothers and sisters who stand beside us. Our stripes are our battle scars, both visible and invisible. The Shield and Stripes represents our union as Law Enforcement, First Responders and Veterans, and our dedication to ensuring our Heroes outlive and overcome their own battles, and learn to live meaningful, happy lives."

On Saturday, September 9th I will walk 22 miles to continue to raise awareness for veteran and first responder suicide and also honor the heroes whose lives were lost on September 11th, 2001.

This year's walk is in partnership with the Brattleboro Elks Lodge and I know that together, with your help we can hit our $15,000 goal!
