For the month of February, we're honoring Christine who works tirelessly for MAKO and is celebrating her 50th bday on Valentine's Day!

Christine Joseph has been working with the children of Mako (formerly of Happy Kids) for 8 years now in the capacity of Director of Education and is currently the sitting Vice President for Mako Children's Fund U.S. She and the rest of the U.S. Board of Directors, serve pro bono, and work in close partnership with Mako Children’s Opportunity Centre in Hohoe, Ghana, a licensed and locally led NGO. Together, caring full-time for 27 children and young adults, ensuring they are all going to good schools and receiving full academic support which includes an after school tutoring program available to all. Mako provides boarding home care with three nutritious meal every day, medical and mental health care, weekly after-school activities, homework support and tutoring, guidance counseling, skill building opportunities, life coaching, love, play and laughter.

Christine is passionate about Mako's mission:

Uplifting at-risk youth in rural Ghana through long-term education and skill-building opportunities.

She has been to Ghana 3 times and knows each child personally. She is well respected in the organization and leads with her whole heart and soul. We are so lucky to have Christine on our team.

When we asked Chris what she wished for her milestone 50th birthday, without hesitation, she promptly replied, “donations for the kids.”
