Our New Home: A Milestone for Chrysalis and Our Community

Chrysalis, Inc. is excited to welcome the Greater Madison Community to our new home! Since 1980, Chrysalis has supported individuals living with mental health and substance use challenges in building purpose, supporting vocational goals, and creating purposeful connections in the community. During this time, Chrysalis has operated out of leased spaces in downtown Madison, West Williamson Street and most recently in the welcoming, mural-covered building on Dewey Court. Each space has given us new ways to expand our reach and evolve our mission.

Chrysalis was founded on a distinct vision; our founders wanted to avoid the then-current trend of providing mental health support in sheltered workshops. They believed that real-life experiences were more powerful and lasting than isolated and confined interactions. This conviction led to the emergence of the Chrysalis Supported Employment and Vocational Peer Support Programs, and Chrysalis Clubhouse. To this day, Chrysalis focuses on providing community-based vocational support services.

Now in our 46th year, we are proud to own a little piece of the area that we've called home for most of our existence. The Chrysalis Community is excited for what this new space means for those we serve, including:

Strengthening the impact of our programs
Providing nutritious meals for our members and participants
Providing care without barriers
Sustaining our financial stability to pour more into services

To celebrate this milestone, the Chrysalis Community invites you to grab a friend and join us for a festive Community Welcome! You can look forward to meeting our board, staff, members, and participants, learning firsthand about our work, and experiencing a little taste of Chrysalis Pops and in-house food service.
