CLARA ROSE: Half Her Healthy Weight. Still Fighting for Her Life.

Meet Clara Rose.

She is half the horse she should be. And somehow, she's still alive.

Look at her pictures. Really look at her.

Behind those tired eyes is a beautiful mare who has endured more than any animal ever should.

People found Clara Rose in an abandoned field in rural Louisiana. Her owner is believed to have passed away months ago, leaving her without the care and nourishment she desperately needed. We don't know exactly how long she was alone.

We don't know how many days she went hungry, how many nights she stood waiting, or how many times she looked toward the road hoping someone would come. But we know what those months have done to her body.

Clara Rose weighs approximately 495 pounds. She should weigh more than 900 pounds.

Her ribs are painfully visible. Her spine and hip bones protrude. Her muscles have wasted away.

And yet, somehow, she has held on.

As if that weren't heartbreaking enough, Clara Rose was facing the possibility of being sold for slaughter.

After everything she had already survived, her life was about to end without ever knowing the comfort and security she deserved.

But her story isn't going to end that way. Not if we can help it. ❤️

When our friends and fellow rescuers in Louisiana told us about Clara Rose, we knew we had to do something.

For years, we've worked alongside trusted rescuers in Louisiana to help animals who have nowhere else to turn.

And now, it's Clara Rose's turn.

This Sunday, Randy and the rescue team will begin a journey of approximately 1,500 miles round trip to bring Clara Rose to RRR Sanctuary.

A diesel truck. A horse trailer. A long road ahead.

And one very precious life waiting at the other end.

❤️ We need your help to bring Clara Rose home.

Our immediate fundraising goal is $1,500 to cover the diesel fuel needed for this rescue journey.

But bringing her home is only the first step.

At barely half her expected healthy weight, Clara Rose faces a long and delicate road to recovery.

A carefully monitored refeeding program is already underway, and she will need veterinary attention, specialized nutrition, patience, and time.

We cannot promise how quickly she will recover. We cannot promise that every day will be easy.

But we can promise that she will be given the chance she deserves.

A chance to regain her strength.

A chance to feel safe.

A chance to experience gentle hands, regular meals, and the comfort of knowing someone is looking after her.

And perhaps one day, we'll share pictures of Clara Rose looking healthy and beautiful, grazing peacefully in a pasture, with no idea how many people came together to save her life.

But today, those aren't the pictures we have.

Today, this is what rescue looks like.

It's not always beautiful green pastures and happy endings.

Sometimes, it's a horse whose bones are showing.

Sometimes, it's a 1,500-mile journey.

Sometimes, it's asking our community to help us do something that one person cannot do alone.

And sometimes, saving a life begins with something as simple as putting diesel in a truck.

And this time, you're coming home. ❤️
