Walking around McNeely Lake Park in Louisville, Kentucky on a Sunday afternoon in 2020, high school seniors Katelyn Johnston and Shayla Roberts-Long noticed trash throughout the trails, destroying their beautiful green space. The pollution littering their once spotless trails forced them to face the reality of climate change, and inspired them to host park cleanups in Louisville. After their first successful cleanup at McNeely Lake Park, they thought deeply about the needs in their community. One that they saw was a need for education around advocacy and the environment. So many people don't know how to contact their legislators or are confused about topics relating to the environment that can be hard to understand. We started Clean4Change to change that.

Since the founding of Clean4Change in 2021, the organization has evolved from park clean ups, and now hosts advocacy socials, climate cafe's, flood relief mutual aid trips, movie nights, and more. Our group has continued to serve the Louisville community, and now hosts events all over Kentucky.

Clean4Change’s mission is to create a joyful community around climate justice work that empowers and supports Kentuckians to take action to address the climate crisis.

Your donation helps us to continue our work. This may go towards funding our team to attend conferences, lead Letcher County mutual aid trips, host park cleanups, or whatever our current need is. Donating today will allow us to continue our work for a brighter tomorrow.
