Climate Sing is an ongoing project committed to bringing people together through song – passionate, joyful songs that lift up the current, urgent need to deepen our relationship to our planet.

In 2025, we commissioned and premiered two new songs: Good Nature by Eisa Davis and Will You Fight for It by Sxip Shirey, launching them in partnership with Brooklyn Bridge Park at our inaugural gathering Climate Sing: First Tracks. This year, we are raising $7,500 over the next 30 days to jumpstart our 2026 activities, including a new song by Martha Redbone– and the accompanying gathering in summer 2026 to premiere it!

Climate Sing songs are designed to be sung a cappella or with acoustic accompaniment. These songs will be accessible to all– for classrooms, protests, parades and gatherings of all kinds. Your contribution helps fuel the events this year and keeps the songs in circulation in perpetuity through an open-source songbook.

Our prototype event Climate Sing: First Tracks brought together 100 guests and passersby singing along with us on the Harbor View Lawn– one of Brooklyn Bridge Park’s beautiful green spaces. We also created an impromptu line dance, made seed cookies to plant in our neighborhoods, and created an evergreen banner of climate hopes and dreams. This joyful, very LIVE proof-of-concept taught us a great deal about how to produce future Climate Sings.

We are kicking off this year with a commission from the wonderful Martha Redbone which will premiere in partnership with Brooklyn Bridge Park on June 21 – and will commission 2 more songs for the fall. We'll produce at least 2 live events to celebrate and teach these songs alongside our inaugural commissions. We plan to continue along this trajectory in 2027 and 2028, culminating in a celebratory BIG SING performance of all 12 songs!

Inspired by protest songs of the 60’s, community spectacles such as the Mermaid Parade and New Orleans Mardi Gras, and choral traditions like community choirs and holiday caroling, The Climate Sing gets more people joyfully singing, coming together to love on our planet. Our medium is music – a new songbook of celebratory songs about Planet Earth. Together, we will joyfully raise climate awareness and take action.

This workshop will give an overview on both what to consider including in your budget for a performing arts event, and also provide some prompts and ideas for how to approach equitable pay across your project.

Deep Community Engagement - Katie Pearl and Lisa D'Amour

Monday 6/15, 7:30pm - 8:30pm EST

PearlDamour creates community engagement opportunities that are hyper local, dramaturgically tied to our shows, and essential to our productions. In this session, PD will share strategies for making these collaborations, including relationship-building starting points, calendars/timelines, and thoughts on letting engagement work continue to deepen after the show moves on.

Boldy and Bravely: Values Led Artistic Leadership - Jonathan McCrory and Niegel Smith
