From larger wildfires and longer droughts to warmer oceans and stronger storms, climate change continues to demonstrate its threat to humanity. It has impacted access to resources and changed the dynamics of international relations.

To help confront these challenges, Adler University is proud to announce the Forum for Climate Justice, a one-of-a-kind event that will bring together diverse communities to examine our current environmental crisis through a social justice lens. The Forum will take place Oct. 11-13, 2023, at the Coast Coal Harbour Hotel in Vancouver, B.C. As one of our valued vendors, we hope that your organization will consider sponsoring this important event.

Led by Fulbright scholar Sandra Song, Ph.D., chair of Adler University’s Public Policy and Administration (MPPA) program, and a team of her students, the Forum will feature interactive workshops, roundtables, networking events, and opportunities to learn more about local organizations working on climate issues.

Over three days, the event will feature six keynote speakers, training sessions, panel discussions, and networking opportunities. It expects approximately 200 guests, including international delegations from Slovenia, Romania, Germany, Colombia, and Egypt; and local and federal government representatives, such as Former U.S. Ambassador Mark Lagon, Sen. Rosa Galvez, and M.P. Lisa Marie Barron.

The Forum’s goal is to create a toolkit for environmental stewardship, along with a memorandum of understanding between a global network of partners while involving often-overlooked, under-represented, and underserved groups.

Join us in this effort to address what the United Nations has described as the “largest, most pervasive threat to the natural environment and societies the world has ever experienced.” And despite the 20 largest economies’ role in accounting for 78% of emissions over the last decade, the poorest countries are paying the heaviest price.
