On August 3rd, 2026 Dylan will embark on a week-long hike up Mount Kilimanjaro, the world's tallest free-standing mountain!

Since 1930, the Boys & Girls Club of Bethlehem has been dedicated to helping local kids and teens reach their full potential as productive, caring and responsible citizens. Throughout the years, the Club has helped thousands of young people prepare for and overcome tough obstacles they may face through programs that focus on education, recreation, and character development. Today, more than 650 Club kids rely on and participate in Club programs with that same focus in mind.

Dylan Stroup enthusiastically joined the Boys & Girls Club of Bethlehem Board of Directors in 2024 because of his passion for helping young people on their journey to becoming the future neighbors, parents, teachers, and leaders in our community. Two years later, he seeks to climb the world's tallest free-standing mountain and raise funds along the way to support Club kids and teens!

"Life is often described as the space between the day you are born and the day you die, and in between is how we choose to live it. As we get older, routines take over, days blend together, and before we know it, seven, ten, or twenty years can pass in the blink of an eye. The Boys & Girls Club of Bethlehem exists to help ensure that young people have opportunities to create meaningful experiences, build confidence, and develop the tools they need to shape a brighter future. The Club helps enable young people to reach their full potential by providing a safe place after school for mentorship, education, athletics, community, and support. I have seen firsthand how important that mission is. Some of these kids are overcoming challenges far greater than any mountain I will climb. I think of a young man who found stability and hope through the Club despite facing difficult circumstances at home. Stories like his are why this matters so much. I am proud to have the Boys and Girls Club of Bethlehem be a benefactor of my personal journey, and I am excited to have our community come together around something that is truly bigger than any one person. This is not my challenge alone. It is a group effort, and I hope you will step up to support a cause that changes lives every day.

I was raised to believe in giving back. My family has a long history of serving others through founding their own nonprofit, Kenyan Healthcare Initiatives, as well as involvement in Rotary, church, and the community. As a financial advisor based in the Lehigh Valley, board member of the Boys and Girls Club of Bethlehem, Rotarian, and board member of Kenyan Healthcare Initiatives, I have always believed success is measured not only by personal achievement, but by the impact we have on the people and communities around us. Serving others and strengthening the community are deeply rooted in who I am.

While climbing Mount Kilimanjaro began as a deeply personal challenge, it’s evolved into something much greater. I want to create a chapter in my life I can one day look back on with gratitude and tremendous pride—not simply because I climbed a mountain, but because I challenged myself physically and mentally while helping create something meaningful for others. I’ve heard that life moves slowly when we are young because there are more new experiences, but as we age there are fewer new experiences so time seems to blend together and move faster. I want to create a new experience, a lasting memory, and an opportunity for people to come together for a purpose that matters. More than reaching the summit of Kilimanjaro, I want us all to remember the day our community came together to help the Boys and Girls Club of Bethlehem and the young people it serves.
