The Randolph County Family Crisis Center began in 1978 as Randolph County Women’s Aid, Inc. with the help of Community Block Grant funds through the City of Asheboro and CETA Funds. The city also gave a large house to the organization to use as a shelter for victims of domestic violence. In 1982 the Agency received funding from the United Way of Randolph County. Since then, the Agency has served as a haven for women, men, and their children, who are fleeing violence in the home.

The name of the agency changed in 1986 to Randolph County Family Crisis Center. That year, the agency began Court Advocacy and Rape Crisis Programs. In 1988, the Phoenix Program and the Family Thrift Store were implemented. The former was begun to provide services to abusers to stop the cycle of violence in the family and the latter was started to help support the expenses of the agency. In 1990 the center purchased a house at the corner of Main and Academy streets for offices. The agency expanded into the Archdale/Trinity area in 2000, to provide advocacy services to that area of Randolph County as well.

All RCFCC services are offered in English and Spanish. Therapy is provided at multiple sites by appointment. Support groups are offered in locations that best meet the needs of participants. We provide community education to many venues which cover a vast array of topics surrounding domestic violence, sexual assault prevention, family violence, child abuse, and human trafficking. We have one emergency shelter. Over the years, RCFCC has implemented multiple initiatives to sustain services, including the Red Door Boutique, a thrift store that operated for several years, beginning in 2016. In 2016 the agency upgraded its Asheboro office which is now located at 624-A South Fayetteville Street, Asheboro. The Randolph County Family Crisis Center opened Randolph County’s first Children’s Advocacy Center, Emmy’s House, in March of 2018.
