Story
With the generous support from our readers, The Columbian has created a fourth Community Funded Journalism position to cover the environment and climate change in Clark County. Our goal is to raise $50,000 for one full year of reporting on climate change, wildfires, storms, native fish, water quality, the Columbia River Gorge, emissions, farming, environmental nonprofits, energy, Vancouver Lake and much more.
You may make your gift securely online or by sending a check made out to our nonprofit partner, Local Media Foundation. Checks should include The Columbian or Columbian Community Funded Journalism on the memo line. Checks can be mailed to:

The Columbian reporters are the storytellers and the recorders of Clark County since 1890. They are the scouts invited into our community’s homes, streets, workplaces, wildlands and government buildings to seek the truth and report it.
We are a fourth-generation, family owned media company that is the leading source for Clark County news. We are committed to providing truthful, non-biased news to our community: an essential service for a healthy democracy.
The Columbian’s new project, Community Funded Journalism, opens the door for community members to support local journalism: stories that uncover the truth about homelessness, housing, transportation and the environment. These stories uncover what’s working and not, and they bring our community together by sharing experiences of those we interview. The project will fund additional reporters at The Columbian, allowing the entire reporting staff to specialize more in their own categories of coverage and dig deeper under the surface of their stories.
Through our fiscal sponsor Local Media Foundation, the Community Funded Journalism Project can accept tax-deductible donations. The Columbian editors will maintain editorial independence over all stories. No donors will know what specific stories the reporters are pursuing, nor will they see stories before they’re published.

Thank you to our dedicated readers and donors for supporting The Columbian.
