The Columbus Cup was originally started as a friendly tournament amongst friends in Columbus, Ohio, and has evolved into an annual non-professional handicap-based tournament. Founder Eric Kingsborough realized that amateur golfers who do not belong to a country club do not have a formal platform to compete against one another like the pros do.

The solution was to bring together golfers, compile their electronically tracked handicaps, and model a weekend of golf after formal golf tournaments. In this effort, the Columbus Cup strives to deliver an experience of competition and fun in tandem with legitimacy and prestige. The winner of the Columbus Cup receives the custom-made Columbus Cup trophy to hold until the following year, along with their very own Red Jacket, dawning a champion's patch.

Beginning in 2024, the Columbus Cup partnered with LOSS Community Services to help provide awareness to this extraordinary group of individuals who provide support to family, friends, and loved ones impacted by suicide in the Columbus area. By combining the platform of friendly competition with this most noble cause, we hope to continue expanding the Columbus Cup annually while raising donations and spreading the support that LOSS provides. All donatable proceeds for the Columbus Cup will go to LOSS to help them fulfill their mission.

The Columbus Cup is currently open to all non-professional golfers who will work directly with the tournament's host and can sign up to receive the annual communications regarding the upcoming tournament.

The Columbus Cup is a non-professional golf tournament hosted by Eric Kingsborough.
