Many young people in Burundi finish school and find nothing waiting. No jobs, no path, no perspective. They end up sucked into a life of teen pregnancy, crime, drug abuse, and even war. I know this story because I lived it. I was that young person with no picture of what my life could ever become.

Then something changed. I found SINA (the Social Innovation Academy). For the first time, I was not treated as a problem, but as a person with potential. I learned to see the resources around me, to innovate through existing systems, and to create value from what I already had. That experience transformed my life completely.

With it, I went to Burundi and started an organization to give other young people the same chance to replicate that transformation. And so, Fount of Education International was born. At FEDU, we aim to ensure quality, holistic and equitable education for all.

Every person deserves an educational experience that is relevant and useful for life improvement. At FEDU, we create new educational systems that prepare young people to face current needs. Our flagship program, Fount Hub, empowers youth with personal and professional skills to transform their lives.

And, it is already working. There are young people here in Burundi right now who want more. Young people with real ideas, real ventures, and a real hunger to lead and to create jobs for themselves and their communities. Like Diane and Alice, who are creating a one family-one goat cooperative to fight hunger, or Eric, whose mobile veterinary service is already serving 50 local farmers. These are not dreams on paper they are businesses waiting for their first real push.

But, what comes next?

Ideas alone do not grow. Every one of these young people needs someone who believes in them in order to move forward.
