At the Blacksburg Interfaith Food Pantry, Compassion becomes Action every day. Through our community's generosity, we are able to provide nutritious food, support, and hope to families facing food insecurity.

This fall, we are asking our community to join us in Compassion in Action by supporting two special efforts that will help us provide food for families during the holidays and nutritious, easy-to-prepare meals throughout the year.

Help Provide Thanksgiving Dinner — $6,500 Goal

A gift of $25 can provide two turkeys or three hams.

Thanksgiving should be a time when families can gather around the table and share a special meal. With your help, we can provide turkeys and hams for the 500 families expected to visit the Blacksburg Interfaith Food Pantry this November.

Luther Memorial Lutheran Church has made a generous donation toward the purchase of turkeys and hams. We now need to raise an additional $6,500 to ensure that every family visiting the Pantry during November can receive one.

Your gift will provide the centerpiece of a traditional Thanksgiving dinner and help hundreds of local families celebrate the holiday with dignity and joy.

Help Pack 50,000 Nutritious Meals

A gift of $25 will provide 60 nutritious meals.

On October 29, 200 volunteers will come together for a special meal-packing event to prepare 50,000 nutritious meals for distribution through the Blacksburg Interfaith Food Pantry.

Provided by The Outreach Program, these meals are fortified with additional nutrition and require only hot water to prepare. This makes them especially useful for children, seniors, and families experiencing housing insecurity.

Thanks to generous support from United Way of Southwest Virginia, Blacksburg Presbyterian Church, and Blacksburg United Methodist Church, we are well on our way—but we still need to raise an additional $11,000 to make this event possible.

Your gift does more than purchase food. It puts nutritious meals directly into the hands of people in our community while bringing volunteers together to turn compassion into action.
