During Hispanic Heritage Month (September 15 – October 15), Como Comunidad is leading a community-wide drive to assemble and distribute at least 200 care packages to local Hispanic and immigrant families. These packages will include culturally familiar food staples (e.g., rice, beans, coffee, Maseca, Abuelita chocolate, pasta, oil, sugar) and encouraging messages of hope.

Community members may contribute by:

Donating physical items through local churches, partners, and organizational collection points.
Purchasing a “care package” online through our giving portal. ($40 = 1 Care Package)

Distribution will take place during and after the campaign in partnership with churches, community leaders, and service organizations.

Too many families in our Hispanic and immigrant communities are struggling quietly. Rising costs, language barriers, and fear of public systems make it hard to ask for help. These care packages are a tangible way to say ‘we care, you belong here.’ As Coretta Scott King said, ‘The greatness of a community is measured by the compassionate actions of its members, ’ and that’s exactly what we’re doing.

Every package is more than just items — it’s a reminder that no one in our community stands alone.
