Excellent art is built through relationships: between dancers and choreographers, teachers and students, musicians and movement, established artists and emerging voices.

CONVERGENCE celebrates those relationships by bringing the creative world surrounding Pasadena Dance Theatre into our studios for an intimate evening of performance, experimentation, and new work.

At the center of this year’s program is an original work by choreographer Norbert De La Cruz III, created for our Advanced dancers. A Juilliard-trained dance artist and Princess Grace Foundation Choreography Fellow, Norbert has created work for companies including BalletX, Richmond Ballet, Dallas Black Dance Theatre, Grand Rapids Ballet, Nashville Ballet, and Hubbard Street 2. Bringing an artist of Norbert’s caliber into our studios gives our dancers the rare opportunity to participate directly in the creation of a new professional work.

The evening will also feature new choreography by our Artistic Director Ashleigh Doede, alongside performances and creative contributions that celebrate the faculty, artists, musicians, and longtime collaborators who continually shape PDT’s artistic life.

Creating these opportunities requires investment. Our largest costs are the artists themselves: commissioning new choreography, bringing guest artists to Pasadena, providing rehearsal time, and supporting the production resources necessary to move a work from its first studio rehearsal to performance.

Ticket sales cover only a portion of those costs. Sponsorship allows PDT to say yes to ambitious artistic ideas, bring exceptional artists into the studio, and create meaningful opportunities for collaboration that would not otherwise be possible.
