Stories from the gym:

"A few years ago I had to stop working out completely ... my hip was bone on bone. The VA providers stated, I had to try shots in my hip before a hip replacement. It was to the point, I couldn't walk a block without extreme pain. I finally was able to receive my hip replacement. PT was extremely hard because I was not able to work out or walk in a year and a half. In that time, my whole body hurt and my muscles tightened up. It also caused my shoulder to turn in and was in pain most of the day from lack of muscle tone.

A good friend told me about Corax and Veterans were being sponsored to be able to work out for free.

Best decision I could've ever made for myself. I just hit 52 sessions and have zero pain in my shoulder and no issues with my hips. Im toning up and I feel better over all, physically and mentally.

I've met some really great people, who I've become friends with, and look forward going to the gym now. The fellowship is awesome and everyone is so positive.

The trainers are amazing making the work out fun and keeps challenging me to be a better me.

And Im definitely a better me thanks to Corax and the wonderful gift from Raven Initiative. Thank you!"

"Since my inception into this program, I've had great improvements in my overall health.

I came in sort of a broken body state and really needed a perspective of how to 'heal' especially in some of my weak areas like my knees and chronic low back pain. I seriously believe that when your issue is really taken serious, it really means something.

I think it's been a year since I've gotten involved and Wow!, what a difference in the strength in the muscles around my knees. They are built up, I don't feel that fear of pain. My low back, well, it's not completely gone, but it's managed and with the proper technique, that I'm learning, has really hit home. I'm so much better in my health and actually look forward to days I can come.

The trainers are fantastic and really know about the body. ...I'm grateful for this initiative that you give to me as a veteran. Thanks for everything!"
