The Commonplace School: a new, non-degree writing, reading and teaching experience.

The Commonplace School has two main goals:

1. Bring reading, writing and learning experiences to people who want to practice writing in and with a community of supportive, engaged people, outside the academy.

2. Help artists who want to teach, teach in a way that brings them and their students joy!

We want our school to be different from any other school out there, so if you're interested in shaking up the way that reading and writing is taught, we sure could use your donation. Your support will help us provide reduced fee and, when necessary free, entry for artists, writers, and makers of all kind, especially people isolated by COVID-19/illness/disability, poverty, racism, caretaking and other institutional barriers. Your support will help us provide unique teaching opportunities to underemployed or unemployed literary workers, especially BIPOC and LGBTQ+ literary workers.

All participants are treated as makers and learners
