Local news needs your support

The Cowley CourierTraveler is fully committed to providing the vital news and information our community needs. We know a free press is part of what has made the United States strong and healthy as a nation, and we recognize the value of keeping our community connected and reporting on government officials and institutions that hold the public trust.

Like many other businesses, newspapers have taken a financial hit during this crisis. Some of our advertisers (one crucial part of our business model) have drawn back on their ad spending because their own businesses have been directly affected by the changes we have recently experienced in the way our society lives, works and shops.

But the necessary work of producing good journalism must go on. In this current pandemic situation, the importance of timely, accurate and helpful information is particularly significant.

Our reporters and other staff will continue to sometimes place themselves at greater risk of exposure to the coronavirus as they perform their work. They do this because they want to serve you and the community even during this pandemic, just as they do at all times. However, professional reporting (and delivering that news to you, whether in print or digitally) doesn’t take place without costs.

We have partnered with the Local Media Foundation to ask for your support of our coronavirus coverage. Certainly, if you are not yet a subscriber, we would welcome the opportunity to serve you as a new subscriber. Subscriptions are another crucial part of our business model. Whether or not you currently subscribe, we are also offering the opportunity to support this work with a tax-deductible donation.

We appreciate the opportunity to serve you, now as much as ever. Thank you for your support.
