When systems move slowly, the community moves first.

In the wake of the devastation across Maui, many people are in need of support.

However, many of these issues are considered non-emergencies; therefore, the county/state is less likely to help.

That is where the founders of LEMO Gives have stepped in.

The inspiration behind LEMO Gives was their father, whose musician name was Johnny Lemo. They have a deep love for Hawaii and the people who inhabit the island. Their goal is to improve the lives of everyone in their community and make their father proud!

Before this campaign even existed, they were already taking action in their community out of pocket. Over $2,000 spent on tarps, with the majority already placed on roofs to keep families dry. Helping clear debris so streets can reopen. Repairing electric meters to restore power. Fixing roofs so people have somewhere safe to sleep. Clearing storm drains so water has somewhere to go.

This work doesn’t always make headlines, but it changes lives.

The reality is that insurance claims take time, and many homeowners may not have insurance. Or if they do, the cost and delay make recovery even harder. These are the gaps where people are left to figure it out on their own.

Through this campaign, we are supporting the founders of LEMO Gives in continuing to show up for their community.

Donations will go directly toward materials and labor to support:

Roof repairs
Land and debris clearing
Storm drain clearing
Trash removal
Plumbing and electrical repairs
General home and building repairs
