Help Every Young Musician Find Their Place in the Orchestra

The Chattanooga Youth Symphony (CYS) empowers talented young musicians from across our region to grow as artists, build confidence, and discover the joy of making music together. Under the direction of professional conductors, students develop their skills through weekly rehearsals with Maestro David Metrio, the Chattanooga Symphony & Opera’s Resident Conductor and Director of Education and Creative Community Engagement. They also benefit from hands-on sectional coaching with CSO musicians, perform solos and in small ensembles, participate in workshops, compete for scholarships, and build lasting connections with fellow musicians.

As the CSO’s most immersive educational program, the Youth Symphony challenges students to reach their full potential—developing not only their musical abilities, but also the discipline, collaboration, and confidence that will serve them throughout their lives.

But every young musician deserves the opportunity to participate, regardless of their family’s financial circumstances. We need to grow our scholarship budget to ensure that the cost of participation never stands in the way of a student’s musical potential. By expanding scholarship support, we can open doors for more young musicians, create greater access to high-quality musical education, and ensure that talent and passion—not financial means—determine who gets to be part of the Youth Symphony.

Your generosity makes a difference. Help us expand scholarships, provide essential music, and cover operating expenses so that the Chattanooga Youth Symphony can continue inspiring the next generation of musicians. Together, we can ensure that every deserving young musician has the opportunity to learn, grow, and take their place on stage.
