Boater Education Certification:

This in-person, up-close, and personal orientation gives you the information you need to pass a Boater Education Course and receive your certificate.

At the beginning of the class, you’ll receive a workbook, and we'll provide the answers needed for your online certification test.

We'll use kayaks to teach you what you need to know quickly and easily. The safety material is largely the same whether it’s for a jet ski, motorboat (neither of these are allowed on Nimitz Lake) or sailboat.

In most states, including Texas, if you were born on or after September 1, 1993, and plan to operate a personal watercraft (jet ski, motorboat over 15 hp, or sailboat over 14 feet), you must be certified. It’s the law!

After class, participants can complete the free online Boater Education Course to receive certification. $11 fee applies for official certificate: boatus.org/texas
