🌍 The Amazon Crisis: A Global Emergency

The Amazon rainforest is not a distant wilderness — it is the beating heart of Earth’s life support system. Yet in the last 50 years, 20% of the forest has already disappeared. Every tree cut diminishes oxygen, increases atmospheric carbon, and disrupts the rainfall cycles that sustain ecosystems across continents — including regions far beyond South America.

Deforestation is accelerating drought, fires, biodiversity collapse, and climate instability.
The future of the Amazon is the future of the planet.

And the people protecting it most effectively — Indigenous communities — are facing increasing challenges.

🌱 Indigenous Guardianship: Protecting the Forest, Protecting the Future

Indigenous peoples represent just 6% of the global population, yet they protect 80% of Earth’s remaining biodiversity. Their ancestral knowledge is a living technology — one that no modern system can replace.

The Noke Koi of Timbauba Village live in deep reciprocity with the rainforest. Their ceremonies, stories, agricultural practices, and ecological wisdom are part of what keeps their territory alive.

Supporting them is not charity — it is one of the most effective ways to protect the Amazon.

🏹 Our Visit to Timbauba: What We Witnessed

Entre Mundos has just returned from a journey deep into the Gregorio River region, where we spent time living with this Noke Koi community, listening to their needs, documenting daily life, and building trust.

This visit brought clarity, connection, and a firsthand understanding of what the village urgently requires.

What we saw:

There is no communal structure for ceremonies, gatherings, or meetings.
When it rains, families must stay inside their small homes. Even in good weather, there is no shaded space for the community to be together.
The village has nowhere to host visitors, so we stayed inside the Chief’s family home.
Despite these limitations, the welcome we received was extraordinary. Chief Paka, his wife Rora, and their children received us with warmth, joy, and deep generosity.

What we did:

Documented the territory and mapped the area where the Cultural Center will be built
Visited the sacred tree, Samauma
Gathered yucca with the women in the roçado
Witnessed a community hunt that fed the entire village
Recorded traditional chants, songs, interviews, and craftmaking
Sat with elders and leaders to confirm that the project aligns with their needs and priorities

Their message was crystal clear:

What they need most — urgently — is a Cultural Center.
A place to gather.
A place to teach.
A place to protect their culture — and therefore, their forest.

We returned home with footage, photos, interviews, and a deeper understanding of this responsibility.

The Vision: A Cultural Center for the Noke Koi

This will be the first Cultural Center ever built in the Timbauba Village — a living, protected space for ceremony, learning, unity, and resilience.

It will include:

Kupixawa: Traditional ceremonial & gathering space
Bathrooms & sanitation system
Solar power system
Artisanal water well
Kitchen & dining hall

Additional Structures

Accompanying House – a simple home for community members caring for & using the Cultural Center
Community Guest Huts – small, respectful accommodations for cultural exchange (not tourism)

What this center represents:

A Space for Ceremony & Healing
A School for Cultural Environmental Wisdom
A Community Anchor
A Bridge Between Worlds

When cultural traditions weaken, forests fall.
When cultural identity strengthens, forests stay alive.

This Cultural Center protects both.

Who We Are: Entre Mundos

Entre Mundos was founded in 2025 by Veronica Hernandez and Wesley Parker.
We exist to bridge worlds responsibly — supporting Indigenous communities while protecting their sovereignty and cultural integrity.

Our mission is clear: Indigenous knowledge belongs to Indigenous peoples. We are students, not teachers. Our role is to amplify, not extract.

This Cultural Center will ensure their wisdom continues — for their children, their forest, and our shared future.

Our Partnership with Mothers of the Amazon

This project is made possible through the support and partnership of Mothers of the Amazon (MOTA), a long-standing nonprofit dedicated to protecting Indigenous communities and the rainforest. Entre Mundos operates as an initiative under their organizational umbrella, allowing us to carry out this work with full accountability and guidance from a team deeply rooted in Amazonian advocacy.

Through MOTA’s support, we are able to coordinate resources, ensure ethical collaboration with the Noke Koi leadership, and guarantee that all funds are managed responsibly and directed to community-identified needs. This partnership strengthens our mission and ensures that every contribution is handled with integrity, transparency, and respect for the cultural sovereignty of the people we serve.

Together, Mothers of the Amazon, Entre Mundos, and the Noke Koi community, we are building a project grounded in reciprocity, protection of ancestral knowledge, and long-term impact.
