Daisy, barely one year old, was abandoned on the streets in San Jose. A gentle, loving, and exceptionally friendly cat, Daisy had a few people feed her occasionally, but it was a high-school senior living in the neighborhood who noticed that Daisy could not see and that she winced in pain every time she tried to close her eyes. The kind student could not turn away, despite having no resources to help. She and her mom brought Daisy into their busy home, and tried reaching out to cat rescues organisations, city shelters, and private cat adoption agencies - to no avail. They called 36 different places, and only ONE responded to her, Peninsula CatWorks. We called some friends who offered to care for Daisy during her recovery.

Daisy has been diagnosed with congenital agenesis, an extremely painful eye condition. Her eyelids did not form properly, causing her never to be able to fully close her eyes, with eyelashes that turn inward and poke her eyes every time she tries to close them.

Peninsula Cat Works is a modest medical fund devoted to helping injured and sick homeless and needy cats and kittens. We found a veterinary eye specialist who can help Daisy with surgery. It is expensive but will relieve and repair Daisy's eyes so she can live out her life as a normal, homed and loved kitty.
