This summer marks a special milestone for Basin Arts as performers from our Adult Dance & Movement Program join DanceLab for the very first time, sharing the stage alongside professional choreographers after six weeks of training together.

Basin Arts’ DanceLab is a seasonal residency program for professional choreographers, from within Acadiana and beyond. Established and emerging dance artists are offered access to professional dance classes and subsidized rehearsal space to support the development of new work.

By investing in the choreographic process, DanceLab strengthens the broader dance ecosystem—providing artists with the time, space, and resources needed to experiment, take risks, and refine their artistic voices. This support not only leads to more ambitious and high-quality performances, but also fosters collaboration, mentorship, and the exchange of ideas across experience levels.
