Daenerys Mother of Pugs (Dani)

We adopted Dani 12/13/2020. She journeyed from Chengdu Province in China (safe houses) via Korea (another safe house) to LA and then to Pacific Pug Rescue 11/15/2020. Dani suffered during her short time in China. She had many teeth extracted due to trying to chew through her captor’s cages, she required patella (knee) surgery from living in a cage, completed months of physical therapy, had multiple ocular tumors extracted and frozen, and finally succumbed to bladder cancer 5/13/2026. During her time in China she was used for breeding and perpetuating the inhumane meat market. When she had her third litter, she had a c-section and this rendered her useless and was headed for the same demise. She was rescued off the back of a truck filled with all kinds of dogs bound for the market. Throughout her life she had extreme anxiety and PTSD as a result of her former life. Like so many rescues, her past did not define her; she thrived in our loving home.

In spite of these adversities, Dani was the sweetest, most loyal and devoted puglet. She was fiercely protective of her fur siblings and often “vetted” other dogs before allowing them to approach her “kids”. And the love she gave our grandkids and us was boundless; a true kissy face girl if ever there was one.

Dani thrived on adventures like hiking, beach trips and nature trails. She held official “sit ins” and refused to walk one more step unless we unleashed her. Surely the Mother of Pugs was far too dignified to be leashed. Once the leash came off, she kept step with us like a trained show dog. To say she was magnificent does not adequately convey her glorious spirit. She was passionate, she was fearless, and she was unapologetically opinionated.

Dani left behind her baby, Arya the Brave and her annoying little brother, Jon Snow. Although Arya was not her biological puppy, she faux nursed her for months and diligently trained her to become a Mighty Mouse Puglet. She soothed Jon when we adopted him from PPR in July 2024 and set him straight when she thought he overstepped his authority. We are each lost without her in different ways.

We are so proud to partner with PPR to establish Dani’s Club to insure all PPR rescues receive complete vaccinations as they head to their forever loving homes. This initiative will keep Dani’s spirit of determination and resilience alive honoring our beautiful girl’s life.

Taking care of the puggies is what Daenerys Mother of Pugs would want us to do and promoting Pacific Pug Rescue’s mission.
