Georgia is celebrating the talent and leadership of DeafBlind people

Governor Brian Kemp has proclaimed October 18–24, 2026, as DeafBlind Access and Opportunity Week. Held during National Disability Employment Awareness Month, the week reflects the 2026 theme, “Celebrating Value and Talent,” while highlighting the importance of equal access to meaningful careers and full participation in community life. DeafBlind people bring valuable skills and leadership to the workplace, yet barriers in hiring, communication access and everyday workplace practices can limit opportunities for employment and professional growth.

Disability Resource Advisors is raising $2,000 to turn this recognition into action through activities that expand access, professional development and community education.

Our planned activities include:

An inclusive hiring session for HR professionals on recruiting, hiring, accommodating and retaining DeafBlind professionals
A Power Moves session on developing an effective career strategy that supports long-term professional success
A local business tour that helps participants discover pathways to employment opportunities

Your donation will provide communication access for career exploration, accessible transportation for activities and digital outreach that builds community understanding.
