At the center of the evening is the denim cutting experience and hearing about the life changing work of Sole Hope.

Guests cut donated denim supplied by Imogene + Willie and ABLE Clothing.

That denim is shipped to Uganda, where local tailors and shoemakers turn it into durable shoes with recycled tire soles.

Those shoes help prevent reinfection for Jiggers.

Children return to school.
Adults return to work.
Communities move forward.

In parts of Uganda, a parasitic flea burrows into the skin of the feet.

The condition is called jiggers.

The infection causes intense pain. Walking becomes difficult. Sometimes impossible.
Children miss school. Adults miss work. Families fall behind.

In many communities, children suffering from jiggers are avoided or pushed aside. Some are treated as untouchable simply because of the condition.

But healing happens.

With medical care, protective shoes, and education, the parasites are removed, wounds heal, and people walk again.

That’s the vision behind Denim & Dinner.
