Paint the Silo: Honoring the Battle of the Ax

For over a century, the Battle of the Ax has been more than a football game, it’s been a story of pride, passion, and tradition that unites the people of Denison. Whether you’ve cheered from the stands, marched in the band, or proudly worn the Yellow Jackets’ colors, the Battle of the Ax is a legacy that binds us all.

Now, we have the opportunity to honor that legacy in a way that will stand tall for generations: painting the downtown Denison silo as a vibrant tribute to our community and the Battle of the Ax.

This project will transform the iconic silo into a landmark that celebrates Denison’s history while creating a lasting symbol of our unity and spirit. The painted silo will not only capture the pride of the Yellow Jackets but also boost downtown Denison by drawing visitors and fostering community pride.

Our Goal

To make this vision a reality, we need to raise $250,000. This budget will cover everything from preparing and preserving the silo to hiring the artist, renting equipment, adding lighting, and ensuring ongoing maintenance.

To recognize your support, we’ve created these donation levels:

• $25,000+ – “The Ax Champion”

• $10,000 – “All-State Yellow Jacket”

• $5,000 – “Touchdown Hero”

• $1,000 – “First Down Club”

• $500 – “Yellow Jacket Booster”

For those who donate at these levels, your name or organization will be proudly displayed inside Munson Stadium as a lasting thank-you for your incredible support.

That being said, EVERY dollar matters, and EVERY donation gets us closer to reaching this incredible goal. Together, we can bring this vision to life!
