For those of you who knew Mike, you know that his humble nature would urge us to delete this section of the website. To Mike, attention of any kind was unwelcome, despite how deserving he was of recognition for the many contributions he made to our community.

For those of you who didn’t know Mike, it will be difficult to summarize his life or describe the man worthy of such recognition. He was a kind, generous soul who knew no limits to helping others. He was a loving and dedicated husband, father, brother, uncle, and son. He was a man strong in his faith and convictions: he was honest, loyal, fair, true, and able to see the good in everyone.

Mike worked tirelessly, yet gave of his time, talents, and treasure to improve the lives of those around him. He was a dedicated coach and mentor and was a staunch supporter of Northern Kentucky sports throughout his life. His love of baseball was evident to all both on and off the field. He believed that the sport teaches valuable lessons for life including the importance of hard work, discipline, sportsmanship, and the overarching concept of team and working for a greater good. He was a true role model for all.

Mike’s legacy of giving is evident through the establishment of The Mike Epplen Philanthropic Fund. His goodness continues to shine as we attempt to positively impact the lives of others through charitable donation. Although we miss his daily presence in our lives, he continues to be with us in spirit and is forever present in our hearts.
