Story
Discovering a Place for Us: Inclusive Creations of Our Journey to Belonging
Join us for a one of a kind virtual event and live stream event like no other. Talented artists from all different mediums and from all over the world will gather together to tell their story of what it is like to create community in the time of COVID. The artists and production team all identify with lived experience and/or physical and sensory disabilities and the event will be told in a way that is inclusive of all disabilities.
Together we will share our story in a way that is accessible to everyone.
WHEN: June 26th at 4:00 pm PST
WHERE: Zoom link will be provided to all who "purchase" a FREE ticket from the event site.
WHAT IS THE EVENT: The initial performance is an hour-long collection of spoken word, dance, visual art, animation, poetry, and original music pieces from a group of ten talented artists from all over the country. Most of the pieces are collaborations inclusive of everyone attending the event. (For example choreographed dance to spoken word with open captioning and in some cases aromatherapy experiences to be inclusive of all senses).
The performance will be followed by a livestream from the Painted Brain Community Center with a viewing of the latest collections in the Painted Brain gallery, a Q & A with some of the artists from the performance, and an open mic of more spoken word/performances.
All funds raised will benefit Painted Brain as we further our plans to acquire a larger community space where artists living with mental health and/or physical/sensory disabilities can share their stories for years to come!
