Twenty years ago, a small group of dachshund lovers in Florida decided to do something. No building. No staff. No budget. Just a mission: get dachshunds out of shelters and into homes.

Two decades and more than 3,000 rescued dogs later, that mission is still going — driven entirely by volunteers, fosters, and the community that shows up every year.

Dachshund Adoption Rescue & Education (DARE) is a 100% volunteer-run 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to rescuing, rehabilitating, and rehoming dachshunds and dachshund mixes across Florida.

On November 7, 2026, we return to Keel Farms in Plant City, FL for Year 20 of Doxapalooza — Florida's largest dachshund celebration. We're expecting 2,000+ attendees for a full day of wiener races, lure coursing, costume contests, rescue adoptions, vendors, and the kind of community energy that only a field full of dachshunds can produce.
