Celebrate 10 years of Drkmttr Collective

Nashville’s longest running DIY space is turning 10! Can you believe it? We have survived 3 moves, 2 involuntary shut downs and many many days of uncertainty. The only way we have made it this long is because of YOU.

What are we fundrasing for? We're glad you asked!

Top priorities:
- New MiniSplit- ! If you know us, you know how imporatnt this one is! We have a generous community member willing to install an additional unit to help keep us cool at a discount! Approx. $4k
- Fixing the crack in our window so it stays cool! Approx. $685
- Fixing our front door so it actually closes…so it stays cool! Approx. 4k
- Repairing our warped interior doors that have been water damaged
- Exterior maintenance
- Having some $$ to put on Drkmttr Fest! (Porta Potties, Stage, Paying bands...)

Financial transparency is important to us, so you know where we’re coming from. Have you ever wondered…how do they pay their rent?! How do they say afloat?! Here’s some info:

Our Patreon brings in around $950 monthly. Bar sales are between $5-$8k monthly. Shows bring in between $6-$13k. In July our income was around $25,000.

Our rent is $3,850 but with utilities, bills and payment, our July expenses were roughly $26,000.

As you can see, this doesn’t leave a lot of wiggle room. Since becoming a 501c3 we’ve had the opportunity to apply for grants, but with the current state of the world…they are harder and harder to come by. Some arts organizations are funded by private equity, public grants, private foundations or independently wealthy operators. Drkmttr has always been grassroots!

On the 29th of August, 2015 Multicult (MD), Great Deceivers (IL), Gnarwhal and Teddy and the Rough Riders blew the doors off 1116 3rd Avenue and rang in a new era of Nashville DIY. That was 10 years ago at Drkmttr 1.0.

What started as the brainchild of Kathryn Edwards, took us from Indiana Avenue and led us to our forever home on Dickerson Pk.

DRKMTTR Collective, Nashville's enduring all-ages space, has been thriving as a hub for connectivity and creative collaboration for ten years! Beyond being a music venue, DRKMTTR stands as a nexus of resilience, cultivating a dynamic community where the DIY ethos transforms into collective action. Through cross-pollination initiatives, we aim to highlight the profound role DRKMTTR plays in linking artists, organizing communities, and the under-21 crowd. We are seeking the backing necessary to create a lasting influence.
