The 2026 Backstory: The Magic of the Fight

In the hockey world, "dropping the gloves" is a moment of raw intensity. But for 2026, we’re adding a touch of the extraordinary. This year, the battle against cancer isn't just about grit and ice—it’s about the Magic of Community. Since our humble beginnings in Lawrence County in 2017, this event has been a beacon of hope. What started as a local charity game has grown into a powerhouse movement. To date, we have raised over $70,000 for the American Cancer Society, proving that when hockey players and fans unite, we have the power to change the scoreboard for patients everywhere.

The 2026 Weekend Lineup

We’ve traded the street fair for a weekend of high-stakes competition and magical celebrations:

The Saturday Scramble (The "Golden Snitch" Open): The weekend kicks off on the green. Our annual Golf Scramble brings together supporters for a day of fellowship and fundraising. Whether you're hitting eagles or hunting for your ball in the Forbidden Forest (the rough), every swing brings us closer to a cure.
The Main Event: Harry Potter on Ice: This year, the rink transforms into a frozen Hogwarts. It’s Gryffindor vs. Slytherin energy with a hockey heart. Expect themed jerseys, magical atmosphere, and players who are ready to "Expelliarmus" cancer right out of the building.
The After-Party: Once the final buzzer sounds and the gloves are dropped, the celebration moves off the ice. The legendary After-Party is where the community toasts to our survivors, honors those we’ve lost, and celebrates the incredible $70,000 milestone we’ve reached together.

Why the Magic Matters

Cancer is a dark art that has touched all of us. But as a certain wise headmaster once said, "Happiness can be found, even in the darkest of times, if one only remembers to turn on the light." By supporting Drop The Gloves 2026, you are that light. We aren't just playing a game; we are casting a collective spell of support, research, and hope.
