Any amount will help, so please join us in our mission to provide weekend meals to food-insecure children across Metro Atlanta to enhance their mental and physical health and their ability to learn.

In 2017, a group of volunteers gathered each week at an Atlanta congregation to pack food for the hungry. They partnered with a local elementary school that identified 10 students dependent on the school's free breakfast and lunch program. Each Friday, the group delivered backpacks filled with non-perishable food to the school counselor, who discreetly sent those children home with enough food to last them through the weekend. Word spread, and more volunteers got involved. In February 2022, Backpack Buddies of Metro Atlanta incorporated and became a registered 501(c)(3) organization with centralized operations in Dunwoody, Georgia. Our impact has grown to include 37 Community Buddies who help serve 53 Title 1 schools, feeding 2,625 children each week. In April 2025, we hit a huge milestone: delivering our 1 millionth meal!
