Christine Handy Bio

Christine Handy is an international print and runway Model. Christine is the author of the book Walk Beside Me, a fictional depiction of Christine’s life. Christine became a Key-Note Speaker after her book was published in 2016. Christine is a mentor, a breast cancer advocate, a public figure, a Social Media Influencer, a Nationally recognized Humanitarian and a Mother of two sons. Christine serves on the board of three non-profit organizations: People of Purpose, the Break Free Foundation and the Wonder Women Initiative.

The Dynami Foundation is held on the believe that together, we are stronger. We connect breast cancer researchers, patients, and supporters together through funding for cutting-edge research, survivorship programs, and ongoing education. Our mission is to further the research, treatment, and prevention of breast cancer while strengthening and supporting patients as they navigate the complexities of their breast cancer journey.

The Barbara Ann Karmanos Cancer Institute is the only National Cancer Institute (NCI)-designated comprehensive cancer center in metro Detroit and received its designation in 1978. We are one of 57 NCI-designated comprehensive cancer centers in the United States. That means patients can access treatments exclusive to Karmanos as well as clinical trials, cancer prevention programs and multidisciplinary teams of cancer specialists — a comprehensive approach you cannot find at a community hospital. Because comprehensive cancer centers are at the forefront of cancer research, they can often oversee patient cases that are more complex.

The statistics on breast cancer are staggering. According to the American Cancer Society, in 2025 an estimated 316,950 women in the U.S will be diagnosed with invasive breast cancer with 42,170 expected to die from the disease. The median age at diagnosis is sixty-two, and the average risk of a women developing breast cancer in her lifetime is about 13%.

Education is key for the community on cancer screening, detection, and treatment. Providing education and support to the community about breast cancer patients and their loved ones is integral to the care we provide. Karmanos Cancer Institute and the Dynami Foundation are requesting philanthropic funding from the Emagine Theater in Birmingham. The showing of the movie “Hello Beautiful” will resonate with the community. For us to come together to provide education and support to our loved ones in southeastern Michigan is crucial. It allows us to support women and men as well as their loved ones during their cancer journey. Together we are ensuring that our families, neighbors, and colleagues continue to have access and support during their cancer journey.
