Indians for Collective Action (ICA), a nonprofit group based in the San Francisco Bay Area, has been instrumental in nurturing social activists and supporting innovative community-led development projects in over 20 states of India since its inception in 1968. Their efforts have resulted in the distribution of over $25 million. This year, we will honor an exceptional individual from the Sundarban region of West Bengal, India, Sankar Halder, the founder of Mukti. Mr. Halder dedicated his life to promoting sustainable development and empowering marginalized women in West Bengal. His unwavering dedication and work have earned him numerous accolades, including the Star of Asia, Bharat Excellence, Krishak Ratna, Vivek Swanman, APJ Abdul Kalam Award, TCS CSR Award, True LEGEND by Telegraph, and AmriCare on Livelihood.
