East Side Accountability Alliance Community Action Fund

A court has granted a Temporary Restraining Order on the proposed 1114 First Avenue shelter — now is the critical window for the community to ensure the final outcome protects our neighborhood.

Help ensure the decisions shaping our neighborhood at 1114 First Avenue are made transparently, lawfully, and with the community’s voice at the table.

A lawsuit related to the proposed facility has been filed by a local homeowners association, and the court has granted a Temporary Restraining Order (TRO). While this is an important development, the case is ongoing and the outcome is not yet determined. This pause creates a critical opportunity to engage policymakers and city agencies and ensure that proper laws, oversight, and safeguards are followed.

The East Side Accountability Alliance has retained Howard Rubin of Goetz Platzer as legal counsel. Based on counsel’s guidance, we are now working to retain Gotham Government Relations, a public affairs and advocacy firm, to work alongside legal counsel. This campaign aims to fund approximately six months of advocacy and government relations work during this critical period.

These efforts may help halt the project or secure meaningful concessions, including operational safeguards, appropriate sizing and management of the facility, and coordination with local agencies and neighbors.

All contributions will support advocacy, communications, government relations, and legal work related to these community efforts.

East Side Accountability Alliance is a New York not-for-profit corporation and is not a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization. Contributions are not tax-deductible.
