Elle Chase's Story
Growing up without proper sex education meant I never really learned how my own body worked. I missed out on the basic anatomical knowledge and communication skills that help people understand their needs, boundaries, and experiences. Instead of having clear, accurate information, I often felt confused or unsure about what was “normal,” and that uncertainty shaped how I saw myself. It left gaps in my confidence and made it harder to trust my instincts or feel grounded in my own physical and emotional experiences.
Those gaps didn’t stay isolated, either—they showed up in my relationships. Without reliable guidance, I ended up patching together a belief system from rumors, half-truths, and whatever I picked up from women’s magazines. That kind of makeshift education didn’t teach me how to communicate well, how to understand my needs, or how to build healthy expectations. It created misunderstandings, avoidable mistakes, and unnecessary shame. Sex education is important to me now because I see clearly how access to honest, comprehensive information could have helped me navigate my body, my identity, and my relationships with far more confidence, clarity and agency.
