Before it was called therapy, it was ritual.
Before it was institutionalized, it was embodied knowing.
We were always here.

For decades, Black dance/movement therapists have shaped the field, innovating practice, sustaining community, and carrying ancestral somatic wisdom, yet their stories have rarely been documented.

We are changing that.

Embodied Legacies is a 4-part documentary film series by The Diahann Project in partnership with Black Magic Association dedicated to reclaiming and preserving the histories of Black dance/movement therapists across generations.

Through cinematic interviews, archival storytelling, and collective movement ritual, this film will:

• Unearth erased pioneers in the field
• Honor elder wisdom bearers
• Document contemporary Black DMT innovation
• Envision the future of justice-centered somatic healing

This project is not only a film.
It is a living archive.
It is historical repair.
It is collective memory made visible.
