We’re excited to invite you to join us on Saturday, February 25, 2023 for The Wiz Emerald City Experience, a celebratory fundraising event hosted by the High School for the Performing & Visual Arts Black Alumni Network (BAN) that includes a sparkling pre-show reception and a premium seat for Kinder HSPVA's 2023 Black History Month All-School Musical production of The Wiz.

The Emerald City Experience promises to be the most dazzling Black History Month celebration in the City of Houston, illuminating Black culture, food, music, and arts with live performances and a special guest presentation by Olly Sholotan (Theatre '15), an HSPVA alum who co-stars as Carlton in the television series, Bel Air.

As guests arrive for the Emerald City Experience, they will be guided by the yellow brick road to the Studio Theater where “YOU'VE GOT TO BE SEEN GREEN” party favors will be provided for an experience through green-colored lenses.

Proceeds from The Wiz Emerald City Experience will fund scholarships and summer intensive training for Black HSPVA students. All monies raised by individuals The HSPVA Black Alumni Network is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization whose purpose is to connect Black alumni of the High School for the Performing and Visual Arts, engage alumni, support current student and alumni endeavors, provide resources and scholarships, and sponsor networking opportunities to champion the next generation of HSPVA artists and professionals. It is through this Network that we seek to build awareness, remind others of our strength in unity, and carve chartable paths for students who, like many of us, encountered a high school experience unlike any other.

*Disclaimer: The amounts raised by each team are part of a collective Black Alumni Network (BAN) scholarship fund and will NOT be distributed as a specific award amount to the student and/or family team member. Funds raised will be distributed in the future to eligible HSPVA Students based on a scholarship application and review process managed by BAN.
